Jazz is a very democratic musical form. It comes out of a communal experience. We take our respective instruments and collectively create a thing of beauty.
Miss Lilly Kay is proving that jazz is such a beautiful genre with her recent singles. Haven’t been involved as much as she should be in the music industry, she’s back with a lot to offer and no one is going to stop her. Lined up with a lot of collaborations, concerts and shoots, we get to find out more about Miss Lilly Kay and her future endeavours.
Kamogelo Lillian Motau, whose better known as Miss LillyKay, is a 23 year old Jazz, RnB and House artist. Her love for music started in 2011, where she attended UNISA for music and studied opera and Jazz. She joined an acapella group (ABL – Acapella Brings Life) in 2014, where they performed at weddings, school events and birthdays. She later started for solo career in 2018 and worked with DJ Omega from Audio Makeup Entertainment, as a recording artist and performed at high school events and open mic nights at Nomad, Cape of Rap culture, Stones and Café Mojito in Cape Town.

Her single’s Misguided and Running are two of her latest work, where she partnered with Noise Pollution Music Entertainment, based in Table View, which is owned by Pizzy Piz. ‘My Daughter’, ‘Jazzy Feeling’ and ‘Right There’ are just a few of many collaborative projects she has featured in, in 2020. LillyKay’s sound is has a lot of range and is a blend of South African influenced sounds, such as Jazz and spoken word poetry.

Currently working on her first EP titled Soft side of Lilly, which has a body of six tracks that take you on a journey of rediscovering love, life and the beauty. Apart from all this, Miss Lilly Kay is an actress, radio presenter and freelances with Alison Maseko at Do you, Be you records in Johannesburg.
